Howie Ledford is currently the Director of Bands at Diggs-Latham Magnet Elementary School for Arts and Global studies and the Director of Orchestras at Parkland Magnet High School, Winston-Salem, NC. Howie plays in the North Carolina Wind Orchestra and the Mountain St. Trio.
He is also one of the co-founders of the Southern Saxophone Retreat, which focuses on teaching saxophone to middle and high school students. This retreat will be celebrating its tenth year. During this retreat Howie is a part of a shared staff and chamber recitals.
Howie received his Bachelors in Music Education with a Minor in Computer Science from Mars Hill College and his Masters in Music with a Music Education Emphasis from University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). While at UNCG he did additional studies in electronic composition. His teachers include Daniel Schmidt, Matt Hebert, and Nicole Strum.
